HIGHNESS WINTER ASK: PLEASE JOIN HIGHNESS GLOBAL IN SUPPORTING VULNERABLE LGBTQ+ REFUGEES
This Winter I am asking you to make a meaningful donation to The Neighbourhood Group Community Services (TNG) to help our vulnerable LGBTQ+ refugees – particularly women and children who need emergency support to purchase groceries, medicines, TTC fares or supplement rent. This sector of our society has been hit very hard and is being overlooked – the ask is urgent in order to prevent hunger and imminent eviction.
RAINBOW CONNECT EMERGENCY FUND: TNG’s Rainbow Connect program provides a safe space for LGBTQ+ refugees to connect, find information about their rights as LGBTQ+ newcomers, the refugee claim process, employment support and discuss topics related to their resettlement. These include employment support and adjusting to the Canadian work environment, and mental, physical and sexual health, and more. The emergency fund exists to keep newcomers’ safe and secure.
Please help me protect these women and children by donating to: LGBTQ+ NEWCOMERS.
As always, my deepest appreciation for your wonderful generosity and support both of this important organization and the initiatives that are close to my heart. Last year your generous donations did so much good in shielding our City’s youngsters living in poverty from gun violence – thank you. Wishing you a warm and loving holiday season, Amana (Board Member: St. Stephen’s Community House & TNG Foundation Board)
Note: On April 1, 2020 St. Stephen’s name changed to The Neighbourhood Group Community Services — but everything we do at all St. Stephen’s locations remains the same. TNG is a United Way organization should you have work matching programs.
